Explore tidepools and dive into a California kelp forest in 360°

March 2020

In this immersive virtual reality experience, a local seaweed and kelp harvest takes viewers on a tour of California’s kelp forests and tidepools. The kelp forest forms the three-dimensional structure of the rich California ocean ecosystem. We can maximize the potential for impactful virtual reality stories by focusing on those stories that are inherently spatial. The immersive nature of this piece encourages viewers to “story-live” by rewarding viewers who choose to look around the 360° frame, while still directing attention to the most important elements.
